Cardara! is a premium card game for mobile devices from developer Daniil Vershinin. It's a roguelike adventure wherein players will go on a grand journey to save a mystical forest from an otherworldly foe. The gameplay is driven by choices and shapes how events and the story unfolds.
Similar to other deck-building games like Slay the Spire and Breach Wanderers, Cardara! utilizes a card-based system and lets players create a hand of cards to take on all kinds of threats and situations. It also implements simple yet effective swipe gestures for its controls so that newcomers will have no issues learning.
Swiping adventure
The game takes place in a fantasy world wherein the titular Cardara, a mystical forest is being threatened by a mysterious entity coming from the far reaches of space and is referred to as the Cosmic Void. You will go on a perilous and unpredictable journey filled with unknown dangers to find the truth behind this mysterious foe and save the land.
Cardara! boasts more than 250 cards to collect as you delve further into its depths. You play on a board of cards and it's up to you which direction you want to go. Instances are random and you can end up having to fight an enemy, make a choice, or receive some kind of bonus that gives you additional health, buffs, and the like.
You earn currency that you use to upgrade stats and unlock permanent bonuses. Collect cosmic shards to be able to face the cosmic king and beat the game. Ultimately, though, one of its core aspects becomes its greatest weakness. The sheer randomness of events contributes to the lack of progression and endgame goals to work towards, which will put off a lot of players after some time.
Stuck in a loop
All in all, while Cardara!'s unique premise and gameplay will draw you into its mystical world, the random nature of its encounters will ultimately tire you out and take away some of your enthusiasm. If you're okay with knowing this and want to push yourself anyway, give it a try. Otherwise, you're better off trying something else with a clear goal of what it wants to be.
